Based on data from 2022 and 2023. It covers the distribution of tech sectors, the location of tech headquarters, the number of employees, the market capitalization, and the annual revenue of the top tech companies.
The US tech industry is divided into nine sectors, with software application being the largest one, followed by semiconductors and software infrastructure. The other sectors are much smaller in comparison.

Most of the tech companies have their headquarters in California, which hosts 66% of them. Texas is the second most popular state, with 8% of the tech headquarters. The rest of the states have 4% or less.





The top 10 US tech companies by number of employees are Amazon, IBM Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, Google, Apple Inc., Oracle Corporation, Dell Technologies Inc., Intel Corporation, Tesla, and HP Inc. Amazon has the most employees with 1.54 million, while HP Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. have the least with 51,000 each.
The top 10 US tech companies by market capitalization are Apple Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Google, Amazon, Nvidia Corporation, Tesla, meta platforms (Facebook), Broadway Inc., Oracle Corporation and Intuit Inc., and Intel Corporation. Apple Inc. has the highest market cap with 2.5 trillion dollars, while Intel Corporation has the lowest with 100 billion dollars.

The top 10 US tech companies by annual revenue are Amazon, Apple Inc., Alphabet (Google), Microsoft Corporation, meta platforms (Facebook), Dell Technologies, Tesla, Intel Corporation, IBM Corporation, and HP Inc. Amazon has the highest revenue with 514 billion dollars, while HP Inc. has the lowest with 60 billion dollars.
